Photosensitivity

Splats flash. Here's what we do about it, and what you can.

Splats are rapid flash-cut videos — up to ten image changes per second. For most people that's the fun. For people with photosensitive epilepsy or visual sensitivities, it can be a genuine hazard.

What the app does

  • Shows an unskippable warning the first time you open Splat.
  • Respects iOS's system Dim Flashing Lights setting: when it's on, Splat warns you before playing anything and offers a gentler playback option.
  • Keeps this page one tap away in Settings.

What you can do

  • Turn on Settings → Accessibility → Motion → Dim Flashing Lights on your iPhone.
  • Skip Splats entirely if flashing imagery has ever affected you — the share pages carry the same warning.

If you experience dizziness, disorientation, or discomfort, stop watching immediately.
